How to remove a unwanted autocompletion browser URL entry

Everyone knows the problem. You enter the first characters of an website URL like “www.goo” in your browser and the one of the autocomplete entry is “www.gooooolge.com”.
That is very annoying but as easy to remove the incorrect entry.

In Firefox and Internet Explorer you simply select the wanted URL with your cursor keys and remove it with the delete key.

Opera shows a small X beside the entry to delete it.

In Chrome and Safari you have to open the browser history where it is possible to remove unwanted entries.

StumbleUpon balloon tip “I likie it!” reminder

With this tiny PHP script you are able to remind your website visitors to support you via StumbleUpon. The script automatically displays a balloon tipp (as shown screenshot) with a custom text like “Please support us on StubleUpon” under the “I like it” button at the StumbleUpon bar. Simply download the the stumbleremider PHP script and extract the stumblereminder.php file and upload it to your webserver.

1. Include the PHP script at the head of your HTML document as follows:

Easy to use PHP pagination

If you list hundred or thousand records from a database on your website, it is unconfortable to show all of these on one page. So I wrote a pagination function in PHP to browse through the pages like browsing through google results with a previous and next link. It is also simple to customize the design. Just change the styles in the numlinkstyle.css stylsheet file.

Extract it and upload all files to your webserver (run the numlinksexample.php to see how it works)

You have to import the numlinkfuctions.php with require_once(’numlinkfunctions.php’); into your script.

Also import the numlinkstyle.css in your HTML header with

Insert the function numlinks($pagenum, $maxpage, $pages_visible, $scriptname, $get); with the following parameters into your PHP code:
$pagenum: Number of the current page
$maxpage: Number of all pages
$pages_visible: Maximum number of pages to be displayed (usually a odd number)
$scriptname: Optional – File to which a number links
$get: Optional – to deliver custom GET parameters (e.g. foo=bar&email=bla@hotmail.com)

My name is Ingo Smeritschnig and I’m CEO of the Austrian company Polymorph.
LucidLab.cc is my private blog where I’ll report my impression of cyber culture and photography.

I was born in the seventies and grown up with oldschool computers like the legendary c64 and an Amiga 500. My interesst since I used my first computer is focused on digital art so I start to code, compose digital music and create pixel art in the early nineties. I joined the demo group “Liquid Dreams” as an musican and I composed tons of fasttracker modules. With the arise of the world wide web i began to code websites, start to photograph and do digital image editing.

In 2008 I founded the web development company Polymorph in Vienna/Austria where I work until now.
